These two ladies are playing leading roles in 2010 Sony Screen Gems production – a movie called simply “The Roommate”. Director Christian E. Christiansen (born in Denmark) is making his big Hollywood debut, telling a story about a young, troubled girl whose obsessions lead to series of unfortunate and terrible events.

Weak part of this idea is that stories like this one have been told in millions of movies, on various ways and with different actresses in roles of psychos. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a revolutionary psycho-thriller (although movie lovers are desperate to finally see a good one in this genre). Strong part of “The Roommate” is that it features two currently very hot and popular celebrities which can be a great way to get people to see your film.

Christiansen’s American movie “The Roommate” is described as the intense, scary, psychological thriller about strange and deranged student (freshman year) called Rebecca, who starts obsessing about her roommate – young, charming and likable Sara (played by Kelly).

Movies about college students, campus action and relations between roommates are very popular among younger crowd. Add some mystery, crime and obsession, and you will most certainly have an instant hit.

“The Roommate” is an interesting next step in careers of both Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly, and possible a successful transfer from prime time television, to the big screen. “The Roommate” is hitting cinemas in 2010; don’t miss out on some mystery, tension and intensity.
