Michael Jackson was on the edge of financial ruin when he agreed to do his “This Is It” concert tour, and his fear of failure spurred by severe insomnia drove him to take desperate measures that killed him, the lawyer for his doctor said Wednesday.
The statements by defense attorneys during a pretrial hearing brought a new twist to the case being built by lawyers for Dr. Conrad Murray, who is charged in the death of Michael Jackson. Defense lawyers previously suggested the pop star might have self administered an overdose of the anesthetic propofol while Murray was away from his side. While seeking access to Jackson’s financial records, Chernoff added Wednesday that Michael Jackson was in anguish over his financial situation and faced ruin if he failed to perform during the upcoming tour. The crux of the defense is going to be that Michael Jackson engaged in a desperate act and took desperate measures that caused his death. One judge even said he believed at the time Michael Jackson died because he was a desperate measures that caused his death.
It is the theory that Michael Jackson committed suicide? Defense attorneys have never used the word suicide and implied Michael Jackson’s death was accidental but self inflicted. At a preliminary hearing for Murray, Jackson was quoted by a witness as saying if he didn’t sleep he would have to cancel the tour.

According to sources Jury selection in the trial of a cardiologist facing criminal charges in the death of Michael Jackson gets under way later this month, but opening statements have been postponed until May.
A superior court judge announced Wednesday that opening statements will begin may 9th after meeting in closed session with Dr. Conrad Murray, his attorneys and prosecutors. Prosecutors contend Murray gave the singing sensation a lethal dose of the anesthetic propofol, which is normally administered in hospital settings. Murray has pleaded not guilty and his attorneys maintain he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed the singer.
Murray consented to the postponement after his attorneys and prosecutors said they could be ready for his involuntary manslaughter trial by then, a transcript of the closed session meeting shows. Murray told the jude it was only acceptable to him if this is not strung along over a long period of time. He doesn’t want to lose his constitutional right to a speedy trial.
The Houston based physician, who has been seeking a speedy trial because of financial difficulties, told superior court judge he understood the delay was necessary to allow both sides to better prepare for trial. The case is expected to feature testimony from several experts, as well as from people who were in Jackson’s rented mansion on the day he died. Both prosecutors and defense attorneys have said they are waiting for reports from experts.
One of Conrad Murray’s defense attorneys claims one defense is that the singer actually drank the propofol which is usually given through an IV drip.

Doctor Conrad Murray Receives Two Setbacks
Its not really surprising to find out that a judge has dealt the doctor charged in the Michael Jackson death with two setbacks, bringing him a step closer to a trial that could end with him being sent to prison and also taking away his livlihood. The superior court judge on Tuesday told Dr. Conrad Murray that after listening to six days of testimony at a preliminary hearing, he thought there was enough evidence to support a possible finding of guilt at trial for the doctor to be convicted of involuntary manslaughter.
The ruling makes the way for a high profile trial that will examine all the aspects of the pop star’s death and try to finally place responsibility for his demise at the age of 50. Moments after he delivered the ruling, the judge also suspended his license to practice medicine in California, a move that the physician’s attorney warned could prompt two other state where he has clinics to do the same. The doctor has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in Jackson’s death in June 2009, with prosecutors accusing him of providing the singer with a lethal dose of the medication propofol and other sedatives. the doctor has pleaded not guilty and is due back in court on the 25th of January for another arraignment.
The judge made minimal comments on his ruling that there was enough evidence for Conrad Murray age 57 to stand trial. But the judge was clear that he thought Jackson’s former physician may pose an imminent danger if allowed to keep his medical license. Conrad Murray hasn’t practiced medicine in California since the death of Michael Jackson. On the final day of the preliminary hearing, Murray’s attorneys grilled experts on the possibility that Jackson somehow gave himself a fatal dose of proprfol, according to the experts that wouldn’t have changed a thing.

Reports say that a judge has ordered the personal physician of Michael Jackson to stand trial for involuntary manslaughter in the death of the pop singing sensation. The ruling against Dr. Conrad Murray came Tuesday after a six day preliminary hearing in Los Angeles. Authorities say that the 57 year old Conrad Murray gave Jackson a lethal dose of powerful anesthetic propofol mixed with other sedatives then failed to provide proper care.
Prosecutors concluded he hearing with testimony from two doctors who said Murray acted outside the standard of medical care. Both witnesses said that even if Jackson had self administered the last dose of the anesthetic, his death would be a homicide because of Murray’s actions. The doctor had pleaded not guilty, and his attorneys have said he did not give Jackson anything that should have killed him. Now with a trial and court ordered the doctor could face up to four years in prison.
There are some individuals who feel as though four years in prison just isn’t enough for the doctor. a lot of these people being his friends, family, and especially his fans. And, there are those who feel he shouldn’t go to trial or prison at all. How do you feel about the decision?

Michael Jackson Dead Long Before Hospital Arrival
New reports and sources say before paramedics wheeled Michael Jackson into the emergency room the doctor was sure he was dead. More than an hour of trying to resuscitate him the decision was made that he actually died in his room at his rented mansion.
Based on what Jackson’s personal physician told the doctor though she didn’t quite know why and he never mentioned any kind of drugs. Conrad Murray told the doctor he has stopped breathing and he immediately started CPR, but prosecutors say that’s not what happened. Instead, over three days and a dozen witnesses at a preliminary hearing, they have put forth a timeline in which Michael Jackson died in the bedroom of his rented mansion and Murray delayed calling 911 to conceal his actions. The doctor said that Conrad Murray never told her he had given Jackson the anesthetic propofil, which she said she typically uses in the ER for patients with head trauma or serious injuries.
Conrad Murray charged in Jackson’s death also didn’t mention several other sedatives he administered, which Dr. Cooper said could have amplified the propofol’s effect and caused Jackson to stop breathing before his heart stopped beating. The testimony came during a preliminary hearing in which a judge will decide whether there is enough evidence for Conrad Murray to stand trial on an involuntary manslaughter charge. Conrad Murray, who has pleaded not guilty, faces up to four years in prison if he is convicted of the crime.
Dr. Cooper claimed that in the ER they made several different attempts to resuscitate the pop singer and icon of the pop music industry. He was dead at the mansion and simply transported to the emergency room, in Dr. Cooper’s opinion although they tried he had been dead for too long.
