35 Shots of Rum Review

35 Shots of Rum Review

35 Shots of Rum“35 Shots of Rum” is the latest movie of French director Claire Denis. This multi-talented mademoiselle is a well known name to all movie lovers around the world. Her movies are always very well accepted from both press and critic, and her fan base is very faithful, and follows her work through the years.

Claire Denis has won various awards, very important in the film industry, such as Golden palm in Cannes and Special Award in Berlin. She was also a jury member at Venice Film Festival in 2005, and is currently Professor at La Femis, in Paris.
In her new feature “35 Shots of Rum” Claire Denis is credited as both, a writer and director. She was deeply touched by this story, decided to co-write the scenario, and step behind the camera to tell it to the audience.

The movie takes place in Paris (in authors home town, which she gladly portraits) in a distant suburban zone. The main character is a metro conductor, who lost his wife and finds relief in his work. He is soon to be retired, sharing his living space with his daughter – a college student, full of life and enthusiasm. She is very beautiful, positive and charming, and everyone likes her, especially their neighbor, who falls in love with her.

Their lives become even more complicated (in terms of relationships) because man’s former lover lives in the same building as they do, and continues to be a huge part of their everyday life.
Clire Denis is an amazing presenter of human character, and her specialty is portraying difficult human relations. In this movie, she has accented the circle in which main protagonists are trying to stay true to themselves, move on with their lives, try to find a little tenderness and happiness, and evolve from the past.
If you liked the movie “Chocolate”, prepare for the equally powerful emotional roller coaster. Once again you will laugh and cry with our characters and feel relieved and happier after watching this film.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller, writers and film directors, said it would be a tribute to disaster movies like Twister and The Day After Tomorrow. Some of the actors who occupy roles we can mention Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Bruce Campbell, James Caan and Mr. T. Although the plot of the film is quite different from the original material, could also function as a way of explaining how the strange began to see rain in the city of Chewandswallow.
