Dong Fangxiao was a 14 year old gymnast. She won the bronze medal. 16 is the minimum age to compete in the Olympics.

China did the same thing during the Beijing games. They increased the age of two of their Olympians. For example, no way does the girl below look 16. She doesn't even look 14.

I don't get what the big deal is. If an athlete is good enough to win gold, why do they have to meet the age requirement? It's not like they are taking drugs.
@Ali, age should not matter. But if there is an age requirement, then all countries should maintain it. It is a shame when athletes have to give up their medals.
Giving up a medal for age is not as shameful as giving up the medal for taking steroids. I remember when Marion Jones was forced to give up 5 gold medals for running. that was just pure embarrassment.
China well performed in Beijing games in last year and again showed their hold at Olympics.
