Ok, we have the movie Avatar which was off the chain. It was so good. people were flocking to theaters to see it, and then they put Dear John in theaters and people flocked to see it. How do they do that and why? theaters make good money anyway dont they; so why both released and in theaters at same time? If they know they are going to be good why not do one at a time. I mean Avatar broke the Titanic's record for pete's sake what does that tell you. Oh well, just go to the theater twice I guess that's all you can do.
Well most theaters now a days have anywhere from 4-20 theaters on site. So they have to show something, they don't really have a choice as the producers and directors of the movies select their release dates far in advance. They have been known to change their dates when they foresee an epic show being released at the same time. But for the most part the movies are geared for a certain audience anyway so they will get the people to the theaters. Not to mention the big hyped movies such as Avatar sell out so far in advance people that can't get in have to go see something so they choose a 2md or 3rd option.
Ok ! they want attraction of their fans as well as revenues from good movies. That might be the reason to put the two competitor movies at same time. People will rush for both and wil get some confuse to choose ans rate the best one.
Well! According to me its the world of competition and every one want a victory. the producers of movies releases their best movie against each other so that they can get their opposition defeated.
