The Tillman Story documentary will be released in August of 2010. It is being released by the Wienstein company. It is a documentary about a professional football player and his life as a soldier. It is rated R for language.
When Pat Tillman gave up his professional football career to join the Army Rangers in 2002, he was instantly a symbol of patriotic fervor. And when the government tried to turn his death into propaganda, they literally took on the wrong family. But the truth about Pat was more complex and more heroic than the caricature. Pat’s mother led the family’s vendetta to reveal the truth behind their son’s life and death.
The Tillman story rings true with pure emotion and insight. It goes beyond an indictment of the government to touch on themes as awesome as the heroism itself. Pat Tillman was a wonderful football player and even a better soldier fighting for his country and his family would see to it that his death and name would not go down in vain.
