The Messenger

The Messenger Movie“The Messenger” was a movie with huge success on festivals this year. Very picky European audience was very satisfied with this film and it received excellent reviews in the press. It was also awarded on one of the most prestigious festivals in the world – Berlin Film festival (where it won Peace Film Award and Silver Berlin Bear, this year).

This feature is directed and written by Oren Moverman, who is a successful writer, sometimes actor, director and producer. During the Berlin film Festival, director stated that he is very clear and demanding in his work, and that he was dreaming about working with Woody Harrelson for years, because he thinks that Mr. Harrelson is one of Hollywood’s most gifted actors of his generation.

Luckily for Oren Moverman, Harrelson (who is very busy in last few years) found some free time and decided to participate in “The Messenger”. He is by far the most famous name in the cast, but ha is accompanied by few very good actors, for instance Ben Foster, Jena Malone and Eamonn Walker. (They are all very persuasive and good in their roles).

“The Messenger” is a story of ethical struggles and moral dilemmas one soldier is facing, while trying to resist strong emotions he feel for a woman he must not love. It is a touching saga of a U.S. Army soldier, played by young Ben Foster, who is teamed up with an officer he cannot stand, and can’t find a way to communicate, at all.

His situation is even harder, because he hates his job and isn’t fulfilled at all, he is just forced to do the least interesting (or desirable) job in the military. Eventually he falls in love with a woman who’s another soldier’s widow, and that complicates his life even more.

“The messenger” is full of twists and turns, dilemmas and questions and it will keep you focused to the very end. Find out why Berlin audience was so amazed and thrilled after seeing this movie!
