The girl on the train movie was released in January and received two out of five stars. The movie was about a jobless and soul searching girl who lives in a suburb in Paris with her mother. Her father is dead so the mother makes her living by essentially babysitting children. Louise, the mother helps her daughter get a job through the assistance of an old lover who is now a famous lawyer and Jewish activist.
When Jeanne’s relationship with the lawyer takes a violent turn of events it is soon shattered and beyond repairing. The two worlds are on a collision course for nothing good to come out of the relationship and the young girl is going to get hurt. This is a movie of great complexity and if an individual doesn’t watch it from the beginning they just won’t get it. The girl on the train could mean headed on the tracks of destruction although we aren’t sure that’s what the screenwriter had in mind considering there isn’t much mention of trains.
This psychological drama raises issues of religion, race and identity but as stated above if you don’t watch the movie in its entirety you just won’t get it either. Many people who have gone to see this movie liked what they seen however it must be followed along to really get a grasp of what the movie is actually saying. The mother isn’t really a part of the ending of the movie either just the beginning and the part of getting her daughter a job with the well to do lawyer. This is something of interest for people too, as they wonder what happened to the mother in the concept of helping her daughter after that. For the most part it was considered a good movie.
