A year has taken the Mexican writer Guillermo Arriaga to see how “The Burning Plain”, his expected debut as director, opens commercially in North American theaters.
The movie, starring two Oscar-winning actresses, Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger, was officially launched in late August 2008 at the last Venice Film Festival and throughout this 2009 has been seen in most rooms European countries.
However, in the United States had been projected only within small film festivals like those held in Phoenix or Seattle. The next Sept. 18, finally will open the lockers for viewers.
“I have with him any kind of relationship, either personal or professional, and I do not have it in the near or distant future,” says Arriaga.
The film tells three stories, seemingly unconnected, that over the footage will crisscrossing to the end, become one. “When you’ve told a story completely linear,” asks Arriaga when someone asks for his peculiar way of narrating.
Charlize Theron in the film plays a troubled woman who works at a restaurant and will have to face his past when he receives an unexpected visit from Mexico. “I think ultimately the film is about the incredible power that is love,” says the star who has also worked in the film as executive producer.
First serious film Guillermo Arriaga, screenwriter of 21 Grams, Babel, among others, and has decided to jump into the world of directing feature films, we wish you luck and hopefully an entertaining film.
To begin, you old faces and very beautiful, but if the monkey dresses in silk … you know the rest. Start with the cast headed by Charlize Theron, Kim Basinger and Jennifer Lawrence, more beauty, if possible, not least of Joaquim de Almeida and Jose Maria Yazpik (just want to walk).
We’ll see if we are surprised or disappointed us. For now, we will give a vote of confidence.
Several stories that come together in a quest for love, the past, with various characters in game … A woman who seeks love from a man in Mexico, an accident destroys the life of a family in Las Cruces, teenagers struggling to keep their love after orphans.
