Sci-Fi genre in America has the most dedicated fan base, and it’s no secret that the number of produced sci-fi movies raises every year. It is also no secret that sometimes big Hollywood names, with no better offer, often take roles in more less successful sci-fi films. Dennis Quaid is one of these guys. He was an absolute A-lister, and one of the hardest working actors during the nineties.
Ten years later, new kids came to the block, and Mr.Quaid decided to establish himself as a great sci-fi action figure. His co-star in this movie is Ben Foster, whom you may recognize from “My name is Earl”, “Six feet under”, “X-man”, “3:10 to Yuma”, “Boston Public” etc.
“Pandorum” is directed by Christian Alvart (who directed movie titled “Antibodies”) and actually, has a quite interesting plot. This film is a scary, intense story of two members of a space craft crew, who realize that they are not alone on the ship.
Two astronauts (Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster) wake up from hibernation, on (what seems to be) an abandoned space ship. They are unfocused, disoriented and unaware of what is going on around them. The two astronauts start hearing weird noises from the middle of the space craft, and decide to find out what is happening.
They can’t remember why are they there, what was the mission, who are they and why they went into hibernation? The only way to solve the mystery is to enter the center of the craft and find out what is going on. As they proceed with that idea, astronauts find out that the reality is much worse than they could even imagine, and that they are the only ones that can save the planet.
Intense, amusing and horrific, “Pandorum” will give you the chills and entertain you, for sure.
