Mammoth

Mammoth MovieMammoth movie is truly a momentous mammoth. Gracia Bernal and Michele Williams play a disgruntled couple. Neither the money nor material wealth, which are great attractions of New York City, can keep them together. By any standards, Leo played by Bernal is a successful man. He owns an expansive and flourishing website that receives thousands of literary every minute. He is literally afloat in huge sums of money. It is whispered that he one of the wealthiest New Yorkers. He knows how important every decision he makes is to his financial empire and to the lives of people around him, he therefore carefully considers every choice he makes. But he is yet to make a decision, whether it is foolish or wise, time would tell.

Leo has all that a man needs in New York, a beautiful wife (Ellen) played by Michele Williams is equally a successful career woman. She is renown in the New York as one of the best and respectable emergency surgeons. She commands authority among the peers. Because of her good records, Ellen often has long queue of clients to who she does not mind sacrificing anything else in the world to serve them. She often works late in the night to save a life.

This seemingly excessive passion for their jobs rather than each other is costing them dearly. The first casualty is their eight year old daughter, Jackie, who has to spend most her time with the Phillipino nanny, Gloria. As Jackie warms up to Gloria, Ellen notices and seeks to understand the rational of her commitment to her work, is it the right priority?

Salt is added to the injury when Leo travels to Thailand for a business trip. The long stay obviously punches more holes to his marriage. The drama begins when he begins to toy with the thought of drastically changing his life.

Could it be a classical case of a materialistic world? A mammoth to many families.
