For Dave Lizewski played by Johnson, reading too much of comic-books gave him a thought of being the superhero character described in the books. Dave soon learns that a superhero character in the books is not the same thing in real life.
No one can deny that Dave has guts. He is inspired by the comic books and decides to live like one of the characters. He knows that he must think and look like a superhero. That includes getting a comic name and dressing like one.
The name he gets is a really funny one. ‘Kick-Ass’ is the name he settles for. He dawns a suit and a mask that fit the name. He believes that he is now cut for the superhero job of fighting crime.
He is not aware that he may just as well receive a kick in the ass. The superheroes in the comic-books have been given super powers by the authors. Mr. kick-ass has no superpower to power his ass. He is in for a real kick.
Dave soon realizes that there is no superman with superpower. He also recognizes that he has no real powers. He has to cover up by mimicking supermen in order to deliver in his job of fighting crime. He soon realizes that his opponents are not playing copycat. They are real and will literary kick his ass.
When Dave meets hardened criminals such as the pair of hardened vigilantes, he has to shape up or lose his ass. He can’t believe that an 11 year old branding a sword and the hit girl Moretz and her father, Dady (Cage) are that serious. They threaten to eliminate Kick-Ass who they feel stands in their way, they do not realize that he is only playing games. Dave has to make a quick decision, does he really want to remain the superhero?
