‘Happy Tears’ is a typical drama and family oriented movie written and directed by Mitchell Lichtenstein. The movie exclusively stars Parker Posey, Demi Moore, Rip Torn and Ellen Barkin in the lead.
‘Happy Tears’ is an emotionally driven highly dramatic film, revolving around two sisters, torn by the ever changing climate of their lives and how they have to cope up with their mentally deteriorated father. The two sisters Laura and Jayne are almost prepared to face the undisputed challenge of their lives that centers on the most important man in their lives, Joe, their seventy year old father.
Laura is a self-obsessed environmentalist who has to sacrifice her well-being only to take good care of her mentally unstable father. Jayne on the other hand, fed up of her father’s hateful behavior, is already dating a workaholic, Jackson, and is planning to settle down. The two responsible daughters have to now forcefully return to their childhood home to look at their not-so-perfect family lives and complete their half finished responsibilities. Laura, a mother of two, feels Joe’s condition is worsening day by day and requires full time care, while Jayne is hoping that their father’s state is not as serious as it seems to be.
Although suffering from a mental dementia, Joe is still quite capable to play his guitar and lives as a jolly good person. The widower also has a special friend, Shelly, who seems to be bold, sassy and shamelessly intolerable to the sisters.
Happy Tears movie is a wonderfully made family drama following the lives of two sisters as they adapt to a difficult life situation. They must make sacrifices in order to provide the proper care for their ill father. The dynamics of the family is changing with new tensions in each member’s life.
