In this Tao Ruspoli directed movie, every second counts in a race to save Leo from jail and place him in a rehab. The time deadline is 8.00pm, and in a usually short distance, the seconds hand on Bella’s watch is running too fast for the distance between Beverly Hills to Watts. The distance is annoyingly long and seems to have been doubled. The documentary film maker duo of Bella and Millo are just the perfect pair for the movie in which Milo’s brother is to be saved from jail. There are just too many obstacles disappointments between them and the mission’s success which creates the suspense in the movie.
This true story inspired by a documentary of a journey of Bell, Milo and Leo, shows just how relief in life can come from unexpected quarters. Their journey takes them from a suburban police station in Casablanca through the homes of the most wealthy men and women on Beverly Hills to raise a paltry $5,000 to pay for rehab clinic. They make desperate attempts to seek help from the East LA chopshops and when the rich seem to fail them and time is fast running out, they try the seeking support from the rural wasteland and housing projects in Watts.
As one watches the timer in on the movie’s clock, anger build up on seeing the time wastage by many rich people who waste the limited time by recounting tales of Leo. Their versions of the impressive qualities and life of Leo contrast so hugely with the visible in the frail man whose life is being saved.
When time is just to run out, and all the avenues to hope are closed, then emerges ironical savior, a drug dealer. But there is no time to waste judging the decency of the money. The rush to save Leo is priority; conscience can be dealt with later.
Watch out that you do not jump out of your seat to save Leo, it is just movie, but true story.
