Broken Embraces

Broken EmbracesLiving in the shadows of Mateo Blanco is a convenient position memory lapse chosen by the blind ‘Harry Caine’. He has too many bitter recollections that are best forgotten, the first step towards a new life is to have a new fake name. Mateo Blanco however is so ardent at disregarding his past that he now officially takes on the new man and signature for his business, Mr. Harry Caine.

The movie “Broken Embraces” is given meaning by the tragic car accident that happens fourteen years earlier in the Island of Lanzarote. All that the ‘dead’ Mateo Blanco held in awe, all that gave his life a meaning including his lover Lena and eye sight were lost from his embrace. For a while he maintains the use of his name Mateo Blanco in his movie director job. The continued use of the name turns out to be a source of torment to him and he realizes that he must forget everything associated with the name.

At least the new Harry Caine has some few people who give him laughter. His former film production manager Judit García who animated the creative scripts that told the stories of Harry, is a reliable shold to cry on. Judith’s son Diego, the secretary, typist and guide are his most precious treasures. With the help of his script writing career and the five people around him, the blind Harry Caine has blossomed in to an attractive man. He has effectively rubbed off the sad memories of Mateo Blamco and the lovely Lena woman.

When Diego is involved in an accident and they try to hide the incident from his mother Judith for fear of harming her, the memories of the Mateo Blanco become the consolation from Harry Caine. With Diego experiencing convalescence, Harry is left with no choicer and is astonished at the ease with which he is able to relay his story just like singing a lullaby song. A bumpy clandestine love story, too sand to be remembered.
