The film is exclusively directed by Phil Traill and written by Kim Barker. It revolves around the wits and jolliness of Mary, played by the Oscar winner Sandra Bullock. She is a hilarious, light-hearted and an open minded woman. A crossword puzzle expert, she takes her life as a miracle and people in it, as the reason for the miracles. But, unfortunately for the guys who know her, she is a natural calamity. She carries herself to an extent of not being called ‘normal’. And her intelligence can go out of proportions sometimes because she takes keen interest in teaching the game of crossword puzzle.
Her life takes a u-turn when she meets Steve, played by Bradley Cooper. He is the cameraman hired for an exclusive news channel. Needless to say, Mary blindly falls for him but in the wrong way. She can only make a guy feel foolish about her. She is bold, loud character and can never live without her oh-so-classy bright red boots. But on the contrary, Steve is least bothered about Mary’s feeling for him and only treats her to be a talkative crazy woman. Mary is head over heels when she encounters her ‘soul mate’. Steve is accompanied by his news reporter friend Hartman Hughes played by Thomas Haden Church, working for the same channel. Hartman will never miss a chance to irritate and trouble Steve. Interestingly, he is fascinated by Mary’s personality and starts finding her interesting.
Meanwhile, the story takes a twist when Mary happens to be the talk of the town with her face flashing on all news channel. Both Steve and Hartman instantly change their point of view towards Mary. Both swept by the immense guilt of not understanding her as a person, hope for a second chance.
