I remember watching the trailer for this movie earlier this year. I was literally blown away. (If you still haven’t seen it, do it immediately, it’s online for quite some time). The feeling of shock is mixed with fear and fascination.
“2012” is the newest work of Ronald Emmerich – a true master of special effects and SF genre. He is a very well known writer, producer and designer, and if you love special effects and action sagas, you must remember his movies “Universal Soldier”, and “Independence Day” (to name few).
Epic adventures are his specialty, and this movie is no different than what he does best – it’s a unique mix of genres: thriller, drama, Sci-Fi and action.
Since Ronald Emmerich is a very influential figure in modern Hollywood, his movies are always packed with superstars, and so is “2012”. John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover and Oliver Platt all star in this movie, which is for sure, one of the reasons you should give it a shot.
But superstar line up is not the only strong asset “2012” has got. As we’ve mentioned, when it comes to special effects, great matte painting and supreme concept art on screen, no one does it better then the team Ronald Emmerich gathers for his flicks. And he proves it once again in “2012”. At some point you literally cannot explain the scenes you are seeing, and most of them are very scary (because they show how our planet is being destroyed). “2012” is a story about cataclysm, and the end of the world as we know it. Our planet will be destroyed in 2012, everything we know and see will be crushed, and even continents will disappear in front of our eyes.
But few people will survive. “2012” is the story about their struggles.
