The September Issue Review

The September Issue MovieAnna Wintour is the biggest name in the world of fashion, today. She is the person whose job would millions of women around the world want to have. She is an editor in chief of American Vogue – the ultimate style, fashion, and lifestyle bible, for decades.

Urban legends say that she was the inspiration for the character of Miranda Priestly, in the popular comedy (and bestselling book) “Devil wears Prada”, and there are a lot of stories about her work politics, discipline she requests, and silly requirements her co workers must obey.

“The September Issue” is a documentary about Anna Wintour, in which director R. J. Cutler has followed her as she was working on a September issue of Vogue, portraying and showing all her duties, meetings, shootings and behind the scene actions.

She is the main figure of this movie, but in this documentary, you will meet her co workers, people who are dictating trends, making decisions on what is going to be popular and what will fail, and shaping the style and fashion sense of millions of women across the globe.

These people are Grace Coodington, fashion journalist, Patrick Demarchelier, world famous photographer, Andrew Leon Talley, fashion and style icon and Wintour’s right hand, Thakoon Panichgul, fashion designer, Mario Testino, one of world’s most famous photographers and many others.

You may ask why “The September issue”, why not May, or November? Well, September is when Fashion Weeks are about to start, Resort shows are finished, and that is always the biggest, and best selling issue of the year. (Most important one, too).

Apart from getting to know Anna Wintour and her out and about, in this movie you will get a chance to be part of the fashion world from another angle, to sneak into the backstage, and to be “a fly on the wall” on some important meetings and fashion presentations.

Interesting and amusing, “The September Issue” is a real treat for fashion lovers!
