Texas born director John Lee Hancock has decided to tell a true story about one of the most important American Football stars of all time – Michael Oher. Warner Bros studio decided to support the idea, because true stories usually do well at the box office, and this is certainly the one that should be told to people, since it seems amazing and unbelievable at some point, and is inspiring and enlightening at the same time.
Good story is not the only strong asset “The Blind Side” has got. John Lee Hancock managed to group some of today’s most popular actors. First there is Sandra Bullock, America’s sweetheart and most popular girl next door. After “The proposal” and similar light comedies, this is a role where she is actually showing off her acting potential, and we must add – she is good. Her co-stars are none other than Academy Award Winner and brilliant actress Kathy Bates (awarded for iconic “Misery”) and “Friday Night Lights” star Tim McGraw.
Newcomer Quinton Aaron is very persuasive and magnetic, portraying Michael Oher. This is his first big role and he was absolutely up to it – a touchy and inspiring role, which will certainly open some big studio doors for this young actor from Bronx.
The movie follows a poor, little African-American boy, gifted and talented for sports, as he rises from his homeless background to the fame and sport stardom, with a help of a white family, willing to give him a chance to pursue his dream.
This movie is a true inspiration, with excellent set design, great music, beautiful cinematography, and most important – great roles. Kathy bates is amazing, she stole the show. Sandra Bullock is also brilliant, one of her best performances, and always good Tim McGraw.
Keep your eyes on a debutant Quinton Aaron. Surely, in years to come, more good movies are ahead of him. Just wait and see. “The Blind Side” is just a beginning.
