Taking Woodstock Review

Taking Woodstock Review“Taking Woodstock” is the latest feature of a Taiwan born director and writer Ang Lee, who currently lives and works in the USA. Ang Lee became a world famous name after making the iconic “Eat Drink Man Woman”. What followed is a list of critically acclaimed movies in which he presented his poised soft narration, and established his very recognisable way of storytelling, directing and writing (because he prefers to do various things himself).

Ang lee is the name behind many “big” movies like “The Ice Strom”, “Ride with the Devil” and a story about cowboy gay love that caused quite a stir – “Brokeback Mountain”.

In the year 2009. Ang Lee has decided to work on a musical/comedy, a genre he is not so familiar with, considering the fact that most of his movies can be described as dramas.

“Taking Woodstock” is a story about Elliot Teichberg, who has came home for the summer to work in a family owned hotel, and help out his parents. He then meets a music and concert promoter, who needs help with organizing a festival that will last 3 days, and gather thousands of music fans and concert goers to that city.

Elliot is delighted with the idea of being part of a music event, so he decides to help with getting permissions for the festival. As good as it seems, it is neither the event nor the thing that will make everyone happy.

Thousands of movie lovers may be interesting to him, as well as the music and the buzz, but the community starts rebelling because they are angry with hippies and teens coming to Woodstock.

What started as a fun idea soon becomes the biggest music event of the century and Elliot soon realises that this summer will be the one that changed his life.
