The setting takes in the 1920’s in Vienna. A girl named Mary (played by Elle Fanning) lives a house full of wonderful things but which includes loneliness in her house. Mary has a brother named Max (played Aaron Drozin) who is quite a brat. He is constantly been neglected by his always distracted parents. His parents are played Richard Grant and Yuilya Vysotskaya. Mary longs for adventure as well as some company. When Christmas arrives, Mary’s Uncle Albert (Played by Nathan Lane) arrives with a gift for young Mary. The gift turns out to be a wooden nutcracker doll. Later, Mary’s thoughts go wild and the nutcracker comes to live. Her dreams soon become her realities; Mary learns to enjoy herself along with all the other passions around the holidays. The nutcracker goes by the name of NC, and soon takes Mary on an exciting journey where toys take a more human form. The special effects on the nutcrackers are visually enhanced. Everything appears ten times larger but danger is close which you will see later on in the movie.
There is a villain known as the Rat king (played by John Turturro) who leads an army of rat creatures as well his mother played by (Frances de la Tour) whose plot is to take over humanity. This movie is filled with tons of action, stunts and dance routines. The movie was originally inspired by the timeless ballet; also the film boasts 8 songs from the composer. Involved is also famous choreographer which is interconnected in the film. This is a must see fore any nutcracker fan as well as anyone who loves a good Christmas story around the holidays. This is a classic film that simply will not be forgotten for you or other people that you truly care for.
