What’s Inside: What is a sixteen year old kid doing playing music and table tennis with adult psychiatric patients on a school day? It’s kind of a funny story. This is a comedy and drama type movie from a Sunday in Brooklyn where a student is bicycling up to the entrance of a mental health clinic, this sixteen year old is stressed out from the demands of being a teenager. Before his parents and younger sister are even awake he checks himself into the hospital and is admitted by the doctor there. However the youth part of the hospital is closed and so he is placed with the adults. The boy is also drawn to another teenager there and they are both feeling displaced.
Wrapping It Up: The It’s Kind Of A Funny Story is a movie you have to see if you like comedy and drama style movies. By the time it is all said and done the boy is sustained by friendships on both the inside and the outside as he learns more about life, love, and the pressures of growing up.
