Tao Ruspoli is a documentarist and photographer, born in Thailand and raised in Italy and USA. He may not ne a debutant but he is certainly a newcomer on the scene, with few works in the resume and mainly documentaries and photographs to present.
His raw talent and great ideas (which are always welcome in Hollywood) got him a chance to create and present this interesting and quite unique movie. “Fix” is an intense true story, happening between the jail and rehab, where bela and Milo try to put Leo (Milo’s brother) into rehab, or else, he will end up behind bars.
Shawn Andrews plays Milo, and Olivia Wilde portrays Bella. Lovely New Yorker Wilde is the most popular part of the cast, gaining celebrity status in a critically acclaimed TV series “House M.D”. After that success she is determined to become a “serious” actress and starring in an indie movie is the great way to do that.
Her role in “Fix” is strong and demanding, and this young girl is very persuasive and interesting to watch. She still needs experience to transfer to the big league, but we must say that in future, Mrs. Wilde can truly become a serious actress. Her Bella is eye catching, charismatic and very memorable.
Milo – director Tao Ruspoli, is quite good too, and you should also remember young Shawn Andrews. Hi is a great junkie slash trouble maker you eventually must fall for.
Combination of documentary approach, raw footage, true story, and filmed – scripted reality is always entertaining, if nothing else – because it is an extreme rarity in Hollywood.
This is a brave, bald movie, with few great flaws (we will let you find them yourself) and some really enlightening moments, fun to watch and easy to forget if it’s not your cup of tea. Movies are after all favourite pass time, let’s not forget that.
