Another movie became an instant success – “An Angel At My Table” (a biopic of Janet Frame, winning her Silver Lion in Venice and numerous awards. But her biggest success so far, was an amazing flick “The Piano” for which she won Palme D’Or in Cannes (in 1993.) and became the first woman ever to win this award. Same year an Academy Award (Oscar) followed for Best Original Screenplay, and she was also nominated for Best Director award (which is very rare for a woman).

In her latest movie “Bright Star” Jane Campion used some amazing young actors. First of them is Ben Whishaw – British actor who became recognized for his spectacular role in Tom Tykwer’s “Perfume – The story of a murderer”. Leading female role is given to young Abbie Cornish, who played in a great flick “Elizabeth – The golden Age”. True movie lovers will certainly now to appreciate this casting, because both actors are truly inspiring and literally grace the screen with their presence.
The story is set in London (the year is 1818.) and follows two young people – John Keats, English poet, and the average girl, young and beautiful Fanny Brawne, high fashion student. They are so different, he doesn’t love nor understand fashion, and she thinks poetry is overrated. Still, little by little they fall in love, and the poetry becomes the strongest link between them. Unfortunately, fairytales are not a real thing, and their relationship starts to shake.

Jane Campion is a master of storytelling and she will once again, leave you speechless. Give her a chance to amaze you, and you are sure to become her true fan.
