Reel Review: This is a documentary about babies and how their lifetime begins. It was released in May 2010. It is rated PG and released by Focus Features. The director is hoping it will go over well in theaters. So far it has a rating of 6 out of 10.
What’s Inside: The documentary is about the adventure of life. Directed by Thomas Balmes’ and it came from an absolutely original idea and the film alternates from one baby back to the others. It follows four babies around the world. And it follows them from birth to their first steps. The children are in order of their on screen introduction. There is one named Ponijao, they live in Namibia. Bayarjargal, who resides with his family in Mongolia. Mari, who lives in Tokyo, Japan;and Hattie, who is in the United States. This is to let mankind know that all babies are born the same until their first steps, and then the culture they reside in is what bases their learning on. They will all be different by the age of two. Different cultures and places where they reside will determine how they are raised.
This documentary is an example of child birth and the way children are brought into this world. In some situations there are differences of child birth however the basic part is the same.
Wrapping It Up: These four babies all live around the world and yet some of the cultures are the same. It is meant to include the early stages of humanity in all corners of the world. There is a lot of information in this documentary although it is not intended for younger children to watch, it is a good learning experience for young adults, new mothers and fathers, or people in the medical industry.
