For the past few weeks Inception has held on to number one in theaters and box offices however after three weeks the movie the Other Guys prevails in box office sales.
The latest collaboration between Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay with the police comedy the Other Guys movie grossed over thirty million over the weekend. It is Ferrell’s second biggest opening weekend after Talladega Nights. The Other Guys put on an impressive number considering the generally down attitude towards the summer’s offerings.
Nolan’s Inception was knocked out of first place but remains in second place after three weeks at being number one as stated above. It did however surpass Batman Begins to make it Nolan’s second highest grossing movie after 2008’s the Dark Knight.
The third franchise in Disney’s ongoing performance, Step Up 3D failed to achieve the success of the previous two installments, which estimated opening weekend gross of at least fifteen million with a heavy loading to its Friday opening of only six million in box office sales.
The Other Guys surpassed them all as the last weekend it was in the third position in box office sales and then went to the top to be the number one film in box offices over the past weekend. It got a slow start and now it is making headlines. The performance from Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg is actually pretty phenomenal if you watch the entire movie. Some individuals thought it would be much lower in box office sales but it has proven these individuals wrong.
