The Extra Man is a comedy about a man who is a writer and a lonely dreamer who likes to think of himself as the hero of a novel. When a very bad incident leaves him totally embarrassed he leaves his job at a prep school and goes to New York City to start all over. This comedy romance will have you in suspense throughout the entire movie. You will be on the edge of your seat in some scenes and in true laughter in other scenes.
He soon finds a job that is nine to five, at an environmental magazine, where he finds himself falling for a co worker. But it is his new home that flares his imagination. He rents a room that is a small apartment of Henry Harrison, a penniless wildly eccentric playwright. When he isn’t dancing alone to weird music or singing out of key he performs the duties of the extra man. A social escort for the widows of the high society.
These two men, separated only by age by over forty years, have a mentor and apprentice type of relationship. Over a lot of time and urban adventures where they find everything from a lion to a jealous neighbor, Louis and Henry form a bond that literally combines their differences.
