Sony Pictures Classics Acquires The Guard

brendan-gleesonSony Pictures has acquired the U.S rights to the action comedy the Guard written and directed by John Michael McDonagh and starring Brendon Gleeson as an unorthodox Irish policeman who joins forces with a straight laced FBI agent. The deal was negotiated on behalf of producers and film sales with Sony.

The release date is to be announced. It is going to be released of course by Sony Pictures Classics. It is starring Brendon Gleeson, Don Cheadle, Mark Strong, Liam Cunningham, Fionnala Flanagan, David Wilmot, Rory Keenan, Pat Shortt, Katrina Cas. This is a drama style film.

Brendan Gleeson stars in this drama. It is about an Irish policeman who joins forces with an FBI agent to take on an international drug smuggling gang. An Irish policeman in a small town with a confrontation personality, a subversive sense of humor, a dying mother, a fondness for prostitutes, and absolutely no interest whatsoever in the international cocaine smuggling ring that has brought FBI agent Wendell Everett to his door.

However, despite the fact that Boyle seems more interested in mocking and undermining Everett than an actively working to solve the case, he finds that circumstances keep pulling him back into the thick of it. Tirst his tiresomely enthusiastic new partner McBride disappears, then his favorite hooker attempts to blackmail him into turning a blind eye and finally the drug traffickers themselves try to buy him off as they have every other member of the local police force. These events unwittingly offend Boyle’s murky moral code. He realizes that he needs to take matters into his own hands, and the only person he can trust is Everett, and so the scene is set for an explosive ending. This is a phenomenal film that people are going to love in theaters. But you will have to go to theaters to see how it will turn out.
