Iron Man 2 may not be out in theaters in the United States and Canada until May 7th but it has already had great success overseas. The first “Iron Man” was a huge success all around the world back in 2008. Everyone will be lining up to get to see this one. This action packed film has already earned Paramount Pictures $100.2 million in 53 countries including the UK, Korea, and Russia. It has earned the most in the UK with 12.2 million, Korea comes next with $10.8 million, and Russia loved it with $8.2 million the most ever for an action packed film released by Paramount.
The Iron Man 2 film still has not opened in a number of nations including, Switzerland, Austria, Turkey, India, and Finland. The first “Iron Man” earned $318 million in the US and $266 million overseas in 2008. According to sources when “Iron Man 2″ hits theaters in the US it is estimated to bring in $155 million to the box office. And it can almost be gauranteed that it will make every penny of that especially since the first one was such a huge hit and everyone loved it! Although “Iron Man 2″ was a huge hit overseas it still doesn’t rank among the all time biggest hits like “Spider-Man 3.”
Paramount Pictures decided to debut the action packed film early to get ahead of the June’s World Cup. Which all you soccer fans out there will be at home to watch. Paramount pushed it back a week so that they could be sure it would be played through the Memorial Day holiday. The original “Iron Man” brought in more money in the United States than it did overseas. Sources believe that “Iron Man 2″ has a chance of blowing “The Dark Knight” out of the water. Which had $158.4 million on it’s opening weekend in 2008. “Iron Man 2″ is going to be a huge hit according to sources. We will just have to wait and see if the United States makes it a huge hit.
