Actress Evangeline Lilly, who famously dated one of the original hobbits, is the latest star to join the cast of The Hobbit movie. The actress said she has been a big fan of the Hobbit books since she was 13. She also stated she has been studying Elvish and having conversations with people about learning how to be an archer, a swordsperson and how to fight like an elf instead of a convict.
Lilly, best known for her starring portrayal in TV’s Lost, will be playing the role of Woodland Elf, Tauriel. It’s a part that’s been created specifically for the TV actress – and doesn’t exist in Tolkien’s original novel. She famously dated Dominic Monaghan – who played brave Hobbit Merry in the three Lord of the Rings films – for five years, and he may return in a cameo role.
The Hobbit synopsis states: Approached out of the blue by the wizard Gandalf the Grey, Bilbo finds himself a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior, Thorin. Their journey will take them into the wild, through treacherous lands. Some swarming with Goblins, deadly Wargs and Giant spiders.
This adventure and fantasy type film is going to be phenomenal and in 3D in selected theaters. The Hobbit is scheduled for theatrical released on December 14th,2012. It is being released by Warner Bros. Pictures.
