For someone who has his entire body of work being labeled by many as unconventional, Todd Solodz continues to work around the norm with his latest idea being that of a film sequel. He is going to recast his indie hit Happiness and take another look at his characters without any regard to the limitations that might have been there by any physical attributes.
The dark comic, Life During Wartime is based on a diverse cast that includes many different actors and actresses. Solodz claims the the new film means for him to go back and bring the story about how the past has a way of never really going away or fully letting go. There is no doubt that Todd could not bring about another film. It just took him some time.
After doing the film Happiness he had no idea he would be doing a sequel although it wasn’t totally unimaginable. He just had to get the idea in his mind and work from there. His imagination was very fertile. He was free of constraints and had the ability to bring out the movie. The concept however was really difficult and the entire number of actors playing a single part might have been overwhelming had it been someone else. Todd Solodz has never been one to have a movie released that was normal. There were always special effects and other areas of mystical and inspiring imagination.
Life During Wartime film is exactly that. What the creator was trying to illustrate and come up with as a sequel and have an ending that people would enjoy.
