The movie about the exploding girl is about a girl who returns home for break from college. She has epilepsy and she does what she can to keep it under control. However from time to time that isn’t easy. While at home she tries to contact her boyfriend and yet, they keep missing each other and don’t see a lot of one another.
During this time while staying with her mother her childhood friend Al, under bad circumstances has to stay with them and he has had a crush on Ivy for quite some time. Although he never really knew how to go about seeing her. His confusion is due to other family circumstances and he knows Ivy has a problem. Through it all however he looks for love in another direction because he knows that she has a boyfriend they just haven’t been spending a lot of time together. While she is home from college she expects to see more of her boyfriend but he seems otherwise distracted or busy always doing something else.
At the risk of not saying how the movie ends they are all in a world of some type of emotional distress and they know what they want; the problem is getting to it and keeping it.
