Shakira is the famous Colombian pop singer that has made herself known through her music however she is also making a name for herself with her work with children in Latin America as well.
Shakira has received a medal from the UN labor agency for her work to help impoverished children. This celebrity definitely deserved the medal as her work with children continues. The 33-year-old pop singer has worked as a Unicef goodwill ambassador. Her barefoot foundation provides nutrition to more than six thousand children in Colombia, and she is a member of the ALAS foundation that advocates for children across Latin America.
In Geneva this past week Juan Somavia called her a true ambassador for children and young people for quality education and social justice. And if anyone deserves a medal for this it is Shakira. The pop singer has done a lot for the well being of children and this is the tip of the iceberg for her. She enjoys doing what she does and she even helped the president when it came to a U.S policy for children.
And yet, the singer has managed to write and release many songs in the pop music industry in addition to working with children and she loves every minute of it. According to her its what makes her who she is.
According to sources she will always speak for the children that can’t speak out for themselves. And it is working; as she continues being an advocate for children everywhere. Its her opinion that social, economic, and environmental policies should and must focus on children and their education.
If you have comments and feedback about the great progress Shakira is making in her quest for helping children we would love to hear from you. What is your opinion on what the Colombian pop singer is trying to accomplish?
