It’s official according to sources the Swiss authorities are saying that the United States didn’t provide enough evidence for him to have to return to the US and face the charges against him. The justice ministry said that national interest were taken into consideration at the overwhelming and stunning decision.
The 76 year old polish movie director will not be going back to the United States. He will stay where he is at. And if that’s not enough they have come to the conclusion that the freedom restrictions he was on no longer exist and will be revoked. He is a free man. Switzerland’s top justice official said he could now leave the chalet.
Approving the extradition seemed to be the only scenario for the crime he committed however despite the United States appeals to get him back the Swiss already refused. Some people are claiming it is an injustice and not the right decision for the Swiss to make, they feel he should pay for what he did and not get away with it totally.
He has directed several different films and even won an oscar at one point in his career. Up until recently however he was under house arrest in Switzerland. All that has changed and he is very happy about it. He is still in his chalet but he now can come and go as he pleases. This of course isn’t justice for the thirteen year old girl he had sex with that brought about the charges against him years ago.
