According to sources Michael Douglas believes the prison sentencing his son got was worth it. He will be doing five years for dealing drugs. Others commented that it might do him good, like a reality check and straighten him out.
While the two haven’t gotten along really in the past they seem to have at least some type of relationship. Michael commented that he hopes that his being behind bars would give his son Cameron the time he needs to get rid of the drug habit that he has had since he was about thirteen.
While Michael never condoned his son’s behavior he was more concerned that as a drug dealer he would be dead or someone at some point would just kill him. Michael feels it will take the entire five year sentence for his son to straighten up.
Everyone in the friends and family group are supporting Cameron and the 31 year old believes he can make a fresh go of it too. Everyone makes mistakes and he has the opportunity to do it right this time. Although it was commented that Michael was an absentee father while Cameron was growing up. But still that is no excuse really.
Michael Douglas talked to a spokesperson and told them that he had tried to talk to Cameron several times, and had tried to get him to stop dealing several times, but when you are on that stuff it is like a disease and his son just wouldn’t listen to reason.
