Man In Letterman Blackmail Case Freed

According to sources the former television producer is the man who tried to blackmail David Letterman over the comedians office affairs. He was released after serving four months of a six month term. Halderman got time off for good behavior during his time at the Rikers Island Jail. He still has to complete one thousand hours of community service.

He survived this and he is really glad to be off the island. The former CBS 48 hour producer is looking for work. Halderman age 52 pleaded guilty earlier this spring to attempted grand larceny. He admitted that he demanded two million dollars in hush money last fall to keep from revealing personal information about David Letterman. The case brought to light an incident in which Letterman admitted having sex with a woman on his staff.

Sources also say that Halderman’s plan was stemmed from his own financial problems and romantic jealousy he found enough information to essentially blackmail David Letterman by looking in the woman’s diary. To come to the knowledge that she and Letterman had a relationship going. The network where he was working with David Letterman would not say if Halderman resigned or if he was fired. His community service will include providing job training to formerly homeless people and convicts getting out of prison.

Letterman married long time girlfriend Regina Lasko last year. They began dating and they have a six year old boy. While not a lot came from the scandal Letterman claimed it was an emotional blow that shouldn’t have been made public.
