Some villagers in Malawi are not happy because they were told by their mayor they have to move. It seems Madonna is going to build a girl’s school and needs the land. Many of these villagers don’t even have children and what about the boys?
Over 200 villagers were told yesterday that the land has already been handed over to Madonna and that they were paid well for their homes and other material items. But it still bothers me because once again, many of these villagers have been here for a while and now they are being pushed out of their homes just like that?
Madonna is a celebrity but she is not that big is she? That she can put people out of their own homes? She wouldn’t get to do that in the United States that’s for sure, could that possibly why she went to Malawi? And why a girls school? Why not one for boys and girls all children should have a chance to learn if that is her way of thinking.
In addition, there have been some residents who have refused to leave the site, and this will slow down progress what will Madonna do with them? Let them stay? Of course not! That school will be built according to sources and the people were paid good for the land as stated above.
