Leonardo is willing and wanting to help keep tigers on the map according to sources. He has teamed up with the world wildlife fund to launch Save Tigers Now. This is a huge campaign to save the big cats. There are a few that are left in the wild, few enough to have them determined to be as endangered. There are around three thousand two hundred in the wild.
In addition, Leo’s first move was a trip to Asia, he wants to find remote tiger habitats and actually document them in their natural environments. Tigers are an endangered cat, just as some of the many different animals that are becoming endangered in our eco system. And he wants to help if he can keep them from extinction.
The campaign is opening or starting in the Chinese year of the Tiger and it hopes to raise around twenty million dollars to start out. This will double the tiger population hopefully by 2022. Its one of the latest projects for Leonardo Dicaprio. In the year 2022 will be the next year of the tiger and he is hoping by then there will be many tigers for the future generations to see.
Leonardo’s past assistance with environmental projects have even included a documentary the 11th Hour. With the award winning Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation. There is a partnership between the world wild life fund and he plans to keep it that way.
