Kevin Eubanks Says Goodbye To The Tonight Show

According to sources Kevin Eubanks said good bye to the Tonight Show. After 18 years he and his band are calling it quits. Jay Leno had nothing but good things to say about Kevin.

Kevin, 52 has other things in mind that he wants to do although admits he will probably miss the antics of Jay Leno as well as the Tonight show cast. He will be replaced by a former American Idol music director Rickey Minor, who will arrive with his own troop on June 7th; they will do reruns next week until they are able to get there.

In April, Eubanks announced his plans to leave the show. But insisted that the recent problems the show has had didn’t have anything to do with his leaving. He wants to do the things he couldn’t do while being on the show. Its not hard to see why the entire group will leave. Eubanks was the back bone of the group and even the comic sidekick for Jay Leno at times.

Sources say that Kevin Eubanks made the comment that” we have been through all this together and its been a trip” and he thanked the audience too. It will be hard to fill the shoes of Kevin Eubanks on the Tonight show although the group coming in will do their best, although you know they are going to have their own style. I wonder if he will cut up with Jay the way that Kevin did though.

Kevin and Jay had each other’s backs you might say, when one messed up the other caught it and they laughed about it. How does Jay feel about Kevin Eubanks leaving? His comment was” he was going to miss him, he was a good sidekick just in the times when he needed it” they did an hour long show about Eubanks leaving which aired last night.

It has been a while since watching the Jay Leno Show not because of any other reason than I have been very busy. However, I was shocked that Kevin is no longer with the show. He played a vital part of the show. And he placed a lot on the table to add to the show. Sorry, but I am not a ricki inor fan – he is not even close to Kevin.
Good luck Kevin your a great talent that will be missed.
Jay is still good but it is like watching Sonny and Cher without either Sonny or Cher. It looses something in the mix…..
