According to sources Jennifer Lopez had to call off a show in the breakaway north of Cyprus, there were provoking celebrations by Greek Cypriots while Turkish Cypriots denounced the move. It wasn’t safe and her safety was taken into consideration.
Sources and reports say that Lopez would perform at a luxury hotel in the north on her 41st birthday this month which triggered a Greek Cypriot online campaign also pushing for a cancellation.
In fact, Greek Cypriots were calling the cancelled show a victory. Although there was controversy over that statement as well. However, in the mind of Jennifer Lopez the show must go on. They saw her appearance as helping legitimize the island’s division. It was split into a Greek speaking south and Turkish speaking north. Jennifer is the singing sensation that is doing a great job in her career. And she continues wherever they let her sing.
And unfortunately Jennifer Lopez was somewhat caught in the middle. This was the reason for the cancellation and had nothing to do with choosing sides. It was for her safety alone. Jennifer’s manager claimed his main concern was in fact Jennifer and nothing else. She will still be doing a show as stated above just in a different area. Something like a neutral area. Turkish Cypriots called the cancellation part of a Greek Cypriot campaign to keep them all isolated. Jennifer was simply there to do a show. She didn’t want to get in the middle of anything.
