Japanese Officials Delay Paris Hilton

According to sources the Japanese officials delayed Paris Hilton at the Narita International airport while they decide whether they should let her into their country or not. Paris pleaded guilty to drug charges and they don’t know if she should be admitted in their country or not. She was stopped by the immigration authorities upon her arrival in Japan on Tuesday, one day after her plea.

Paris was supposed to appear at a news conference in Tokyo on Wednesday to promote her new clothing lines however those appearances were cancelled. The immigration office questioned Hilton and for certain reasons felt she should not be allowed to enter the country. They adjourned questioning and asked her to stay at a hotel in the airport so they could continue with their immigration procedures.

Under the Japanese law, immigration authorities have the power to deny entry to those who have been convicted of drug related offenses. Tokyo was the first top on Hilton’s planned Asia tour during which she planned to visit different regions in Asia. Both countries that she was going to visit have very strict anti drug laws and immigration procedures, and it is unclear if Hilton would continue with her travels. Paris was disappointed that she has been detained and won’t know anything until Wednesday.

According to other sources Paris was contractually obligated to her business trip and didn’t want to let down her brands and many Asian fans. She intended on fulfilling her contract and she is trying hard to do the responsible thing, but this is simply beyond her control and she has to wait. The Japanese officials are within their rights and they might not allow Hilton access to their country.
