Jackson Ruled The Internet In 2009

According to sources the King of Pop’s comeback concerts, announced in March, followed by his tragic death in June, made him the most searched for star across the world wide web. Jackson dethroned the princess Britney Spears, who had led the annual Yahoo poll for the last four years with her personal struggles and highly publicized breakdown consistently putting her at the top of the search engine’s most wanted list.

Jackson had the web under a trance literally from the time he announced his comeback tours, where they were going to be, and then unexpectedly his untimely death, made him ruler over the Internet search engines.

Although there were others of course that rolled into the top ten, such as Britney Spears in fifth. However, second to Michael Jackson was the Twilight franchise. After that was Megan Fox and the list continues. The top ten also included Patrick Swayze and Farrah Fawcett both of which lost their battles to cancer. Even the wrestling federation was in the top ten for 2009.

What makes this poll unique is the fact that everyone was expecting all these concerts from Michael Jackson and the Internet was buzzing big time about him. Twitter, Hollywood Access, and many others had a lot of dates and settings for the pop icon. But then when he died the Internet took on a different approach for the king of Pop and sadly it wasn’t a happy time.

According to the polls and different ways they tell who is the most popular person on the Internet it was in fact Michael Jackson, so the others fell short and he gained the prestige although it didn’t end the way his fans really wanted it to. For more information about who is the most popular all you have to do is search a name or group and then go to the web site.
