According to sources Barbara Walters was feeling very good after heart surgery in May as she returned to active duty on The View after taking the summer off to recover. She is feeling fine and told her fans and the audience that she was thankful for their concern.
Joining the welcome party was David Letterman in his first visit. The late show host has had open heart surgery over a decade ago and he and Walters spent a good portion of the show comparing notes about it. They compared it to plumbing as they talked. They compared it to pumps, valves, and pipes. So in essence it did sound a lot like they were talking about plumbing parts.
However, he did say that it is more than a miracle and Letterman recalled when he got the post surgery good news from the doctor as well. Although Letterman has a coronary artery disease where Barbara Walters just had a bad valve on her heart. And yet, both surgeries went well and that was the most important thing they both agreed on this. The show The View will get back to normal now that Barbara is back. It did well in her absence however all of her fans wanted her back as quickly as she returned to the show. She did need time to recover though and this is why she took the summer to do it. Ratings for the television show have been steady but they all commented about how good it was to see her back on the show.
